Burrswood Estate
Welcome to the Burrswood Estate Consultation
Burrswood Estate is a remarkable historic estate set within 42 hectares of the High Weald, surrounded by woodland, open countryside and mature landscaped grounds. At its heart sits the Grade II listed Country House and Chapel, buildings that have played an important role in the history and character of the estate for generations.
Our vision is to secure the long-term future of Burrswood by carefully restoring and conserving its most important heritage assets whilst creating a sustainable new residential community that respects the unique qualities of this special place.
The proposals have been developed through detailed technical studies and ongoing discussions with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council. They are guided by five key considerations: planning policy, the High Weald National Landscape, heritage, architecture and viability. Every aspect of the emerging masterplan has been shaped by the character of the estate, its landscape setting and its rich history.
Community Engagement Event
Tuesday 8th September, 2pm - 7pm
At Burrswood Estate, Groombridge, TN3 9PY
We want to hear your thoughts and gather feedback on these emerging proposals. Please come along to this drop in event to meet members of the Project Team and view the proposals in more detail.
Masterplan
The masterplan brings together a series of distinct character areas, each responding to its surroundings. These include the sensitive conversion of the Country House, the restoration of the Walled Garden, the creation of a courtyard-style Stable Block, a New Wing and a landscape-led Village Green inspired by the traditional settlement patterns of the High Weald.
Alongside the restoration of the estate, the proposals would deliver significant environmental improvements, including habitat creation, biodiversity enhancements, new tree planting and the restoration of historic landscape features. The aim is to create a place that feels as though it has evolved naturally from its setting, while ensuring the future of Burrswood for generations to come.
We invite you to explore the proposals, learn more about the vision for the estate and share your feedback as the plans continue to evolve.
Have your say
Following this period of community engagement, we will review all feedback received and consider it in developing the final proposals. A planning application will then be submitted to the local council for determination.
